12/10-12/11 Weather Update

December 11, 2016

Good evening,

Tonight’s snow event has begun as forecasted.  We are expecting accumulations in the area of 1-3” overnight with additional accumulation of another 2-4” of accumulation throughout the day tomorrow.  Due to ambient temperatures in the mid 20’s to lower 30’s the snow falling will be lighter than the most recent storm.  Due to the duration of this storm, we will commence plowing operations between 4:00 and 6:00 am depending on the route.  All routes will be active by 6:00 am.  Please see below for an update from our friends at Weather Guidance.  As always, thank you for your continued confidence in Rudey Landscape and please do not hesitate to call or text me directly on my mobile at 630.824.7918 at any time with questions or service requests.  Feel free to email as well at jrudey@rudeylandscape.com.  If I don’t respond immediately, I promise I will as soon as I am able.  Thanks again and we look forward to safely and efficiently clearing this snow event!

Best regards,

Jon

WeatherGuidance continues a Snow Advisory for Rudey Landscape

Valid:

07:19 PM Today until 08:00 PM Tomorrow

Expected impacts:

  • Periods of snow will increase this evening and tonight and continue into much of the day on Sunday

  • Average snow accumulation of 4-7 inches appears likely for most of the local area with this event

  • Most of the accumulation will occur over a rather broad period of time, from mid to late evening this evening thru 2-3pm on Sunday

  • Present indications suggest that even heavier snowfall amounts are possible just to the North and East of the local service area

  • No high winds are forecast with this event. Therefore, blowing snow is not expected to be a concern for the local area with this event.

Probability of the specified snowfall amount (total) at a given location:

  • Probability of 1.0-1.5 inches of snow: 100%

  • Probability of 1.5-2.0 inches of snow: 100%

  • Probability of 2.0-3.0 inches of snow: 100%

  • Probability of 3.0-5.0 inches of snow: 90%

  • Probability of 5.0-7.0 inches of snow: 60%

  • Probability of 7.0+ inches of snow: 30%

Discussion:

Periods of snow will increase this evening into tonight and continue into much of the daytime hours on Sunday before tapering off late on Sunday afternoon or early on Sunday evening (with respect to accumulating snow).

We continue to forecast widespread total snow accumulation of 4-7 inches on average across the local service area with this event. The lower end of the range is more likely to occur just to the South and West of the local area, and the higher end of the range in the Northern and Eastern parts of the local area. Even higher amounts are possible just to the North and just to the East of the local area based on present indications.

If the expected track of the storm system producing the snow were to shift even slightly to the South, then locally higher snow amounts would be possible across some parts of the local area. We will continue to evaluate trends and issue forecast updates if this occurs.

The majority of the accumulating snow will occur over a rather broad period of time from near 8-9pm this evening through about 2-3pm on Sunday - based on present indications. While the snow will likely accumulate gradually over this broad time period, there will undoubtedly be some periods where locally heavier snow falls for at least brief periods of time within the broader time span, as well as periods where the snow does not accumulate as much for at least brief periods of time.

Strong winds will not be associated with this event, so we do not expect any problems with widespread blowing snow across the local area with this event.

We will continue monitoring the situation and issue updates as conditions warrant.

Forecaster Confidence (Low/Moderate/High):

Moderate to High
