Weather Advisory for 12/10/16

Significant Weather Advisory for Snow this weekend

Good afternoon,

We are currently operating under a Significant Weather Advisory for Snow. The advisory period is this Saturday 12/10 from the mid-afternoon hours through Sunday 12/11 mid-morning. We have been monitoring forecasts and updates throughout the week and the forecast is now starting take better shape. The storm impact is expected to be a minimum of 1” with a maximum of 4” at this time. We will continue to monitor local, regional and targeted forecasts and issue updates as the forecast comes into a clearer focus. Given the drop in ambient temperatures this week, we are not expecting significant melt-off as the snow should accumulate from the first flakes through the end of the storm. While the timing of the storm appears to be overnight now, we hope to be able to issue a firm operational plan on Saturday. We will offer forecast updates as we see the inevitable changes. For now, please see below the latest from our friends at Weather Guidance issued within the last 30 minutes and please do not hesitate to call, text or email with questions or specific service requests. Feel free to reach me directly on my mobile phone at 630.824.7918 and thank you for your continued confidence in Rudey Landscape!!

Best regards,

Jon

WeatherGuidance continues a Significant Weather Advisory for Snow for Rudey Landscape

Valid:

03:00 PM Saturday (12/10/16) until 09:00 AM Sunday (12/11/16)

Expected impacts:

  • Periods of snow are likely mainly from late Saturday afternoon into the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning

  • Snow accumulation of 1-3 inches appears likely for most of the local area with this event

  • If the track of the system changes, then higher snow amounts of 2-4 inches could result for at least some parts of the local area

  • High winds are not forecast with this event. Therefore, blowing snow is not a concern for the local area with this event.

Discussion:

We are continuing to monitor a developing weather situation for the period mid to late afternoon on Saturday through early Sunday morning. Accumulating snow is likely area-wide during that general time period.

At this time it appears that periods of snow will form toward or shortly after 3-4pm on Saturday, and increase into Saturday evening and Saturday night before tapering off near or shortly after dawn on Sunday morning.

At this time we continue to forecast a general accumulation of 1-3 inches of snow across the local area in association with this event. The majority of the accumulation would likely occur between the hours of 6pm on Saturday and 6am on Sunday based on present indications. If the expected track of the system changes, higher snow amounts of 2-4 inches could result for some parts of the local region. We will continue to monitor for this possibility and issue updates as the eventual track of the system becomes more clear.

At this time we are not forecasting any strong winds with this event, so we do not expect problems with widespread blowing snow across the local area with this event.

We will continue monitoring the situation and issue updates as conditions warrant.

Forecaster Confidence (Low/Moderate/High):

Moderate to High
